Rheumatology

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that typically affects the small joints in your hands and feet.

Differing from osteoarthritis, which is caused by the frequent wear and tear of surface joints, Rheumatoid arthritis targets the lining that surrounds the joints and causes swelling that is painful that will result in joint deformity and bone erosion.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the immune system attacks the patient's own body and tissues. In addition to causing joint issues, rheumatoid arthritis can affect other organs such as eyes, lungs, skin, and even blood vessels.

Although Rheumatoid Arthritis can occur at any age, it commonly begins after the age of 40 and occurs at a higher frequency in women than men.
